What goes vertical through floor levels
Usually in the stairwells
In North America, a standpipe is a type of rigid water piping which is built into multi-story buildings
in a vertical position or bridges in a horizontal position, to which fire hoses can be connected,
allowing manual application of water to the fire.
Within the context of a building or bridge, a standpipe serves the same purpose as a fire hydrant.
Wet: Used in Automatic Wet Sprinks. & is always filled with water
Dry: Used only be FireFighters. Must be within fire resistant chamber or well. And 18 m from the road.
In OUR context here:
Standpipe runs up thru the stairwells i.e. Vertical Wet Standpipe Riser is the equipment in the Riser Room only
Each level requires:
Holes through floor for Drain, & Main pipe
Holes thru wall into the main occupied corridors of said floor
i.e. Sleeves or Core Drilling (Core-Driller to remove slurry and cores)
Non-Return, AKA Check, or Back-Flow prevention valve/s to prevent floor draining back to the standpipe.
Monitored control & flow detection valves
